AsktheWorld.org - Here is a recent Google Maps project which has been recommended to me by a visitor in Italy. His Asktheworld.org site has been expanded to include world events such as the London bombings or an upcoming F1 race. We'll have to see how this site takes shape. For now, it's a combination of a free-spirited message board and news events overlayed onto Google Maps. Perhaps the comments will feed into the maps entries as the site continues to take shape? Here is a link to a Google Group posting of a user that has made use of AsktheWorld's entry for an upcoming F1 race..

Google Maps Mania (3) - FIFA World Cup 2006 Google Maps mashup
 Google Maps site Asktheworld.org has created a handy Google Map for the FIFA Football World Cup fans. The World Cup will be held in Germany in 2006 and this FIFA World Cup Google Maps mashup will let you tour the 12 host cities. The map coverage includes information for all the venues plus the full match schedule for each stadium. The city of Munich features an interesting satellite picture of the stadium under construction since the sat-cam that snapped the photo caught it several months ago. If you're planning on attending any of the matches in Munich, not to worry the stadium will be finished in time. :) For more information on the World Cup, check out the Official Website.
